Performance Evaluation of an Internet of Healthcare Things for Medical Monitoring Using M/M/c/K Queuing Models

Due to the non-stop and rapid spreading of virus pandemics all over world, traditional healthcare monitoring capabilities hospitals and/or medical centers are under a severe over-load. Modern computing infrastructures with harmony various layers paradigms (e.g., cloud/fog/edge computing) for apparently essential backbone that help access process instantly data every single patient at very edge system combat global or regional contagion. Previous studies proposed different architectures but few works considered evaluation pure performance transmission in comprehensive manner. In this paper, we an M/M/c/K queuing network model Internet Healthcare Things (IoHT) infrastructure association three layer continuum. The considers life cycle from body-attached IoT sensors way local clients doctors, physicians) through fog remote professionals, patient's family members) cloud layer. Furthermore, also explore impact alteration configuration capability two scenarios on metrics. Critical metrics related quality service evaluated manner, such as (i) mean response time (local) (remote) clients, (ii) utilization layers, (iii) throughput, (iv) number messages period time, (v) drop rate. simulation results pinpoint bottle-neck parameters configurations IoHT infrastructure's architecture relation frequency collection health check patients. Thus, findings study can improve administration design accordance circumstances pandemics.
